We attended the Belevue strawberry festival this past weekend.

Hubby let me get a flat of berries, so I'm having my own little "festival" in the kitchen with all the strawberry recipes I know.

First up:
Strawberry lemonade:
Ingredients
3 strawberries
1 lemon
2 tb sugar
3/4 cup water

1. Slice up the berries and place in tall glass. Add sugar and crush with back of spoon.
2. Add lemon juice, and water.
3. Stir. Add ice and serve.

Father's day tie

Since a tie is a traditional father say gift, I thought it appropriate to give one to hubby, this his first father's day.
So I took the stamps they made from Squeeker's feet when he was born and I made a stencil out of them. Then I used the stencil, fabric paint and a sponge to make foot prints walking up the tie.

I liked it so much I did one for my dad.
And I did one for my father in law.
(Since he as six grand kids, he got six foot prints, and two are pink because two of the grand kids are girls.)
So, Grandpa H's on the left, Hubby's in the middle and Grandpa M.on the right.

Grandpa M. had several people say nice things about the tie when he wore it to church father's day.

Pancake house, redmond. New Gluten free menue

Chicken strips and French fries

Very good.

Crispy outside, moist inside. Not to dry or greasy.
I was very pleased.

A month or so later I tried their GF pancakes. I can do better at home, for a quarter of the price. Stick wit the chicken!

Cookies: ready to go

Chocolate chip cookies Undi's VS WOW

WOW cookies are my "go to" cookies. I love them. Then this week at Whole foods I noticed a new product, Undi's has cookies.

So i picked up the tub of WOW and the Tub of the Undi's

I ate the wow cookie: it's as good as it always is.
Then I had the Undi: and it was wonderful!
Even better.
I though WOW was good, but the Undi is even better.

Rock and roll rob

I make this as a patch for the back of a motorcycle vest.
The vest was a gift for my uncle in law.
The wings are from Anita Goodesign: glamour-rocks
I had to use the included sizing program because I only have a 4inch hoop. So the wings are 4 inches tall. It was actually very hard to do.
I had to do one wing, then re-hoop it exactly right to be able to do the second wing, and have then look even. Then re-hoop it a third time to do the monogram.
That is why it was a patch instead of putting the wings directly on the vest. I made two drafts before this trying to get the wings even and I did not want to mess it up.
I think it turned out well.

French meadow bakery gluten free cake

Our local QFC has started caring these:

French meadow bakery gluten free cake

Hubby picked one up to celebrate our son being two  month's old.
The cake is very small, and it wads mostly frosting.
The consistency was a little dry but over all it was good. Don't know how quickly thy move in the store, so maybe I got a day old one and a fresh one would be better...
Probably not likely to get again, I preferred fresh from my own oven

Strip quilt. One. Baby girl

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of quilting. Cutting apart flat fabric just to sew them back together to make flat fabric sounds like a waste of time. But so much of the embroiderer stuff is geared towards making quilt squares, SO I asked my sister to teach me.
My sister in law is due with a baby the same time as me. I wanted to make her a quilt for her little girl.
While sewing it I had cravings for Neapolitan ice cream.
I think it turned out rather well. We backed it with Brown flannel, and tied it. I ended up with a few extra squares. I offered to make her curtains or something with the other squares but she did not seamed interested in the idea. She actually did not seam all that interested in the quilt, but it's hard to tell. So perhaps I will come up with something else to do with extra quilt squares. I have about three full sized ones, and about 3 that are missing the outer layer, and two with just the first two layers....
No idea...

Cookie mix compar: Cocochip

Chocolate chip cookie mix

King Arthurr flour
VS
Betty crocker

Betty's mix came with the chips included. Arthur's mix you had to add them. This is good an bad
Arther's could be made in the electric mixer, creaming the butter and sugar, and then I could have added any combo of chips and nuts, (possibly white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts..next time)
Betty's had to be mixed by hand, but it did not require the acquisition of additional ingredients.
So for ease of identification, I used  minni chocolate ships in the King Arthur batch and the Betty's batch had regular sized.

I took them to a dinner party with a family familiar with GF products, and We decided that the King Arthur's had a less grainy texture, but the Betty crocker had a more buttery flavor.

Enjoy Life, Chewy on the go bars, in Cocoa loco flavor

I'm outraged.
Outraged.
Look at the picture on the box. Look at the large, rectangular bar pictured on the box.

NOW look at that was in the box:

The little individual wrapping even leads us to think your getting a bar. It's Bar shaped. But I was shocked and outraged to find only this little cube.

It did not taste half bad, but I was two outraged by it's size to have much of an opinion on it's taste. Plus it was just so SMALL it was hard to get a good idea of what you were tasting.
It's a single bite sized.
I did put that sucker on a scale and it did weight an ounce, as the package advertised, so it's not like I got a faulty box. It's just that they are so heavy that an ounce worth it not very much.
So these things are very high in calories for so little food.
Outraged.
It's about the size of a fig newton, and even Nabisco had the sense to put TWO newtons as a single serving. Enjoy lift things one of these is a serving, AND deserves it's own wrapper!
I will NEVER get these again.
I might never get any Enjoy Life product again, that is how up-set I am over this.

Key Jacket

My sister was over, and remarked that she had only gotten one item embroidered by me.
So I said, I would do one right then, she could pick it. I showed her every design I had and then we searched the Internet for more.
We ended up with this fancy key, on the jacket she was wearing.
The Key is designed by Urban Threads.
While I am happy to see that the industry has recognized the market of under 50 years old, there really not meeting it yet. Hopefully the situation will improve over time.
